The development of Plumpton Barn saw the transformation of a derelict stone barn in to a contemporary, sustainable, four bedroom dwelling with associated artist’s studio and workshops.

A double-height, open-plan living and dining space was created on the ground floor with a 3m x 3m feature, frameless glazed, picture window providing views on to the landscape. A zinc-clad studio was designed within the garden space.

Many of the original features of the barn were retained, with exposed stonework and original beams set against crisp white plastered walls. Reclaimed timber was used for internal finishes.

The finished property was super-insulated and incorporated water recycling, heat recovery, solar hot water and under-floor heating throughout to maximise the energy efficiency.
