The first housing blocks are nearing completion at Centenary Quay, Woolston, Southampton. The development, which will ultimately provide 1640 houses and apartments along with a wide range of commercial, retail and leisure facilities, started on site in late 2010 by Crest Nicholson Regeneration and SEEDA. The first private units for sale will be completed shortly along with 25 of the affordable houses. This will provide a mix of two, three, and four bedroom properties for rent, shared ownership or purchase. A sales and marketing suite has been created on site to show case two of the house designs. Construction of the Phase I, five storey apartment block is well underway and two show apartments will also be completed shortly. To power the development a sustainable, central heat and power energy centre has already been completed and will be commissioned shortly. In total, Phase I of the scheme will provide 160 new homes.
